Round Valley Versus Canyon Day by Gannon

It's sports reporter Bob Walk here, back with another report on the 8th grade Round Valley Middle School football team.  Round Valley traveled down to the reservation town of Canyon Day last week.  To start the game, Round Valley kicked off.  Canyon Day's first offensive drive was a short one.  The ball was turned over. RV put together a very good drive but it did not result  in points.  The ball turned over to Canyon Day.  They put together a great drive and it resulted in six points.  Then it was the half.

Canyon Day kicked  off to Round Valley to begin the second half.  Round Valley, with a good return,  put them in a great field position.  The second play of the drive resulted in six points for Round Valley.  It was a tie game.  Canyon Day received the kick but they couldn't get anything going on offence.  Then, Round Valley with the ball scored again.  The ball went back to Canyon Day again, but they could not get anything going on offense.  In the fourth quarter, Round Valley led 13 to 6.  Canyon Day had the ball for three minutes of the quarter but could not gain any points.  Round Valley, with two minutes to go, put together a great drive and were inside the ten with 20 seconds left.  This was the last play of the game.  It was a run and Seth Wiltbank was in with his third touchdown of the day.  Round Valley came out with their first win of the season, 20-6.

RVMS Softball Team Defeats Payson by Jessica S.

Last Wednesday was our second eighth grade game; we played Payson.  We warmed up and got ready.  Round Vally was up to bat first.  What started a great first inning was Merrick's amazing bunt.  Everyone on the team did really well at bat.  We had many innings where it was three up and three down in the field.  Kyrie and Darcee pitched a great game.  I had four RBIs (runs batted in) and a triple.  We all did something to contribute to our win, 14- 0.  We are undefeated and plan to keep it that way.

The Back to School Dance by Liam

On Thursday, August 17, the Back to School Dance for seventh and eighth grade students took place.  It was an exciting dance full of fun and excitement.  There were many line dances that occurred, including The Cupid Shuffle, Whip and Ne Ne, and of course the Cotton Eyed Joe.  While many students knew and participated in the line dances, only three students knew the dance to Cotton Eyed Joe.  We asked some students their opinions of the dance.  Jacob said, "I liked the music."  Katie   added, "It was fun-ish."  Liam stated, "I liked doing the line dances."  All in all, I think it's safe to say we had an overall good dance this year.
